Regional Variation of Banding Patterns in Some Isozymes of Cymbidium goeringii in Korea

|
Acid phosphatase, esterase and aspartate aminotransferase isozymes of Cymbidium goeringii for twelve populations consisting of 286 individuals were analysed by starch gel electrophoresis. Banding types of the above isozymes were polymorphic and the frequencies of isozyme bands among some populations were statistically different. These facts indicate that Cymbidium goeringii populations have considerable genetic variations within and between populations. It also appears that Cymbidium goeringii species maintain genetic variation within and between populations by outbreeding system and by genetic differentiation derived from local ecological factors.
